Osteopathy
What is osteopathy?
Orthopedic osteopathy is treatment of musculoskeletal pain and disorders. An osteopath manipulates and mobilizes when treating misplaced and dysfunctional joints. In addition, an osteopath employs technical massage, various motion therapies, and instructs with suitable home exercises, if necessary.
An accurate clinical investigation is part of an orthopedic osteopath’s specialty. A good investigation is a prerequisite in targeting the treatment accurately to the dysfunctional tissue, and to rule out treatment inhibiting factors. Our staff relies strictly to the scientific and studied facts of the Western medicine, and the investigations are therefore always based on knowledge of functional anatomy, X-ray diagnostics and neurology.
The training of orthopedic osteopath prepares for performing hundreds of clinical tests, in order to examine the cause of problems.
When not osteopathically treatable, an osteopath is able to guide the client to most suitable doctor for further examination based on the clinical investigation, if necessary. In most cases, an osteopath guiding the client to further examination is able to tell/present the cause maintaining the problem.
Osteopathy can be used to treat i.a. the following problems:
– Neck and shoulder pain, head ache. Migraine.
– Problems of shoulders and elbows.
– Wrist pains.
– Problems with finger and toe joints.
– Problems with feet, heels and soles.
– Problems with ankles, knees and hips.
– Back pain, sciatica, and lumbago.
– Pain and numbness of limbs.
– Dizziness, muscle tension, and tendon problems.
In research and practice, osteopathy has been established functional, safe, and cost-effective form of treatment. Desirable treatment outcome is achieved usually quite fast.
